To have a PC in machine for being able to listen to the mp3, to use navigator GPS, to play with MAME, to watch the television and the DivX films always it has been a my dream… but every a lot the dreams come true.

Before beginning the construction of my PC for the machine, I have intentional test my dowries of hobbist.

The first obstacle was the realization of the houses. The choice has been that one to use the plexiglas, is for the final scenico effect that for the facility in the cut.

According to obstacle it has been to find a solution for the feeding of the PC that had necessarily to be taken from the battery of the machine. The perfect solution has been the Dc-dc local power source of the Opus.

This local power source satisfies also to eventual falls of tension under to 12V (the type when the machine is ignited) and allows the ignition also of other apparatuses.

As an example, to the ignition of the machine, after 10 second ones they come ignited also the amplifiers.

Here of flank you see the local power source mounted on the slab in plexiglass with the spessori that will resist the Hard Disk then.

For the cut of the plexiglas it was necessary to know the measures of the houses and the positions of several the holes.

Truly it was complicated to imagine which to me had to be the definitive dimensions of the houses and which it was its shape better to the aim than to optimize the space and the positioning of several the pieces.

To the end the solution has been tortuosa. I have had to learn to use Autocad.

Here some images of the study carried out in CAD of the houses and the positioning of the elements to its inside. The dimensions of the houses have been to the end defined in 330x200x100mm

In truth, to the beginning I had preventivato to carry out the cut of sides of the houses to 45 so as to to avoid that the spessori of cut were looked at that would not be appeared transparent. Unfortunately the cut of the plexiglas with saws alternative to it does not allow, to accounts made of otttenere a thread to 45 perfect and the imperfections, had to the movements of the blade during the cut, in end did not make to combaciare sides. I have had to withdraw to the cut to 90 even if the result has been same the satisfactory one.
 

In the photo over you see the slabs that they compose the base and sides of the houses already cut. The blue coloration is given from the adhesive sheets that proteggono the plexiglas from eventual signs during the working. These sheets will be only eliminated after the assembly of the houses.

As you see in the blowup to right, the plan in CAD has not been only useful in order to study the optimization of the spaces but also for the cut and the execution of the exact centratura of the holes for the several lives and bolts that will fix sides of the houses and the members of the computer.

One of the more stressful parts of the plan has been the realization of the posterior holes of the motherboard, the WinTV card and the local p0wer source. To the beginning, the idea was to make the single holes of several the incomes, but then, because of the thickness of plexiglass (1 cm) me is shrewed that the holes of the motherboard would have been overlapped with the other.

Therefore I have decided to make a rectangular hole inserting the slab to you supplied in equipment with the Epia, and to make the holes for the sun exited WinTV and of feeding.

Also therefore, but, the job has been along in how much the holes made with the bottoming drill and it saws alternative to it were always too much small and, with the fear to cut via too much, I have ended with losing more time of the previewed one before making to combaciare several the elements.

Also in this case, however, the plan in CAD has been most useful in how much has allowed me to center the holes of the WinTV card to the millimeter without having to try to make collimare the holes posizionando the same card on the motherboard.

To the end the result has been a parallelepipedo of 330x200x100mm. Cosi from the first moment does not make a great beautiful effect… but we see what succeeds then, when we will remove the protection films.

The part that I thought was complicated (at least for me) was the realization of the pianale to put in supplied substitution of that one with my motor vehicle. Instead it has been all a divertimento. The trucciolato plan in I have made it to cut directly in one of these centers trades them (Castrorama of Pescara). What I have had to make has been to cut to the sections curves, and to fix the houses.

The more likeable part has been the realization of the two hinges that couple the pianale to the machine and of it they allow to the spin R-all'.apertura of the posterior baggage car. One of the hinges, in order to mean to us, is caught a glimpse low, to the center of the photo over. For the realization I have found two lives threading with a diameter leggermente more small regarding the present hinges in the pianale originates them and then I have covered them with one plastic modeling found in the same place in which I have made to make the cut of the pianale. This plastic is wonderful, putting in hot water becomes type plastilina, is modellabile, adapted to lives and bolts and, once cooled, return to being plastic hard. Moreover this process can be repeated to the infinite.This plastic, once put around the screw has quite generated the thread and hour is unscrewed and screwed calmly.

To this point the temptation has been too much strong… is gone in machine and it is ignited.

Large breath of relief… works all.

Hour does not remain that to fix to remove the car radio of series supplied with my Good Fiat, to fix monitor LCD and covers them the pianale with of the cloth.

The first one step comes executed thanks to the aid of a elettrauto that I have supplied me of the necessary keys to the extraction of the car radio… never I would not have arrived us.

Once extracted the series car radio, has been a childs' play to extract frontalino the commandos of my motor vehicle and to fix the monitor to us.

Also the covering of the pianale with an appropriate cloth has been a childs' play and, what it remains, it is to taste sfavillio of the PC with the removed films and ignited neon.

To Do List:

What remains to make? To give one pulitina to the posterior cavetteria, to fix the antenna of the TV, to extend the antenna radio from the frontalino front until the PC… and then?

To make the software of management for the PC I have tried in INTERNET but, the only software that could have adapted is:

• fact to cabbage,

• bug full load,

• not ago all the one which I would want it made

Moreover, I have tried to contact the sviluppatori in order to see if they were disposed to supply their code to me that I would have fixed and widened with the functionalities that served to me. This code then would have been of they uses under licence GPL. From these getlteman has not had answer.

Therefore, I have decided to make it me from me and, to short you will find it in download under licence GPL.
